Indoor Things to Do in Bengaluru

When the evening rain arrives, which in Bengaluru (Bangalore) is most likely between May and October, the city moves indoors, and the events below are the theatre, comedy, workshops, exhibitions, screenings and talks you can attend without watching the sky. For a museum afternoon, the Museum of Art & Photography and the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum are a few minutes apart on Kasturba Road, close to Cubbon Park metro station; the National Gallery of Modern Art is on Palace Road; and the Indian Music Experience in JP Nagar can fill two hours. Science Gallery Bengaluru is free, as are most talks, concerts and screenings at the Bangalore International Centre in Domlur. In the evening, Ranga Shankara stages plays six days a week, comedy clubs in Koramangala and Indiranagar run shows nightly, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium has sky shows through the afternoon. Malls such as Orion, Phoenix Marketcity and Phoenix Mall of Asia have cinemas and play zones. Studios across the city teach pottery, painting, baking and dance at weekends. Mondays are the awkward day: several museums, the planetarium and Ranga Shankara are closed, though the Visvesvaraya museum stays open.
