Heritage Walks & History Tours in Bengaluru

Bengaluru is older than its glass towers suggest. Kempegowda founded the market town in 1537, and its grid survives in the Pete, where walks thread through KR Market, the Delhi Gate of Bangalore Fort and Tipu Sultan's teak Summer Palace, completed in 1791. Basavanagudi walks pair the Bull Temple and Bugle Rock with breakfast in Gandhi Bazaar; Malleshwaram, Fraser Town and Ulsoor each have their own trails; and the Cantonment's churches and bungalows tell the colonial half of the story. Lalbagh, begun in 1760, and Cubbon Park, laid out in 1870, are best seen on tree walks. Several groups run public walks most weekends for roughly ₹750 to ₹1,100, and the state tourism corporation offers guided tours of the Vidhana Soudha on Sundays.
