Theatre in Bengaluru (Bangalore) has a home base: Ranga Shankara in JP Nagar, a 320-seat playhouse that has staged a play on most evenings, six days a week, since it opened in 2004. Its annual theatre festival runs from 23 October to 1 November 2026. Jagriti Theatre in Whitefield, with 200 seats around a thrust stage, serves the eastern suburbs at weekends. On JC Road, Ravindra Kalakshetra and the Town Hall are the traditional stages for Kannada theatre, while large touring productions and musicals book Chowdiah Memorial Hall or the 1,000-seat Prestige Srihari Khoday Centre. Smaller shows turn up at Alliance Française, where Bangalore Little Theatre performs, and at the Bangalore International Centre. Plays are in Kannada, English, Hindi and other languages, and both playhouses refuse latecomers. This page lists plays, musicals, children's theatre and theatre festivals across the city.
