Film Screenings, Festivals & Film Clubs in Bengaluru

Beyond the multiplexes, Bengaluru (Bangalore) has a steady circuit of screenings run by cultural centres and film societies. The Bangalore International Centre in Domlur shows documentaries and world cinema free of charge, usually with a discussion; the National Gallery of Modern Art screens films in its auditorium; Alliance Française and the Goethe-Institut programme French and German cinema; and Suchitra in Banashankari is the city's long-running film society. The Courtyard in Shanthinagar holds movie nights on its lawn. The city's main festival is the Bengaluru International Film Festival, organised with the state government early in the year; its next dates had not been announced at the time of writing. Kannada cinema has its own first-day-first-show culture in the single screens and multiplexes.
