About Sir Puttanna Chetty Town Hall

Sir Puttanna Chetty Town Hall is the neoclassical civic hall on JC Road whose columned portico is one of central Bengaluru's landmarks. It was built between 6 March 1933 and 11 September 1935 and named after Sir K.P. Puttanna Chetty, and is owned by the city corporation. The auditorium seated 1,038 before a later renovation reduced it to 810 seats. The hall is used for government and civic functions, award ceremonies, Kannada cultural programmes, music and dance, and community events, and it stands next to Ravindra Kalakshetra, forming the city's old cultural corner near the Pete. Listings often call it simply 'Town Hall', so check the address if a ticket does not name the road.
