The J.N. Tata Auditorium is the main public hall of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), housed in the National Science Seminar Complex on CV Raman Road at the edge of the campus. The main auditorium seats 750, and three smaller halls, A, B and C, seat 120, 90 and 60 for parallel sessions. It was built for scientific conferences and convocations and is regularly used for academic symposia, medical and technology conferences and public lectures, but it is also hired out for concerts, dance recitals and cultural programmes, which is when most of the public visits. Bookings are handled by IISc, which lists the hire charge for the main hall at ₹1 lakh plus GST.
