About Ranga Shankara
Ranga Shankara is Bengaluru's best-loved playhouse, a 320-seat thrust-stage theatre in JP Nagar that opened on 28 October 2004. It was built in memory of the actor and director Shankar Nag, driven by his wife, the actor Arundhati Nag, and is run by the Sanket Trust. The auditorium was designed for unamplified performance, and the theatre is known for its 'a play a day' programming, with shows six days a week in Kannada, English, Hindi and other languages. A cafรฉ, a bookshop and a small gallery share the building. Its annual Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival runs from 23 October to 1 November 2026 on the theme of belonging, and the AHA! theatre festival for children was held in May 2026.
